Occupational Therapy - Leaf Garland

Materials: Colored felt, yarn, hole puncher


Directions: You can use the same leaf template as last week’s activity, just without the stem. Have each client choose a colored felt and cut out 3-4 leaves from it. Hole punch 3-4 holes down the middle of the leaf and weave the yearn in and out of the holes to thread the together. Can put some tape on the end of the yarn to make it stiffer and easier to weave through the holes.


This is a decorative Fall activity that involves bilateral hand use. The hole puncher builds hand strength, and weaving yarn in and out of the holes encourages fine motor precision. The activity encourages HOH assist, bringing hands to midline to grasp onto one engage with the felt leaves, and tactile stimulation to feel the leaves and the yarn.
