Occupational Therapy - Paper plate sunflower

Materials: paper plate, popsicle stick, glue, construction paper, paint, seeds or beads or beans (optional)

Directions: paint plate for flower color, popsicle stick for stem and cut out leaves if desired. Cut out flower shape from plate, glue on the seeds or bead or even scraps of paper in the center of the flower, glue on the stem and leaves.

This bright and colorful activity is visually stimulating for the clients. It has a variety of textures (the ridges in the paper plate, the feel of the wooden popsicle stick, and of course the seeds or beans) that our clients can run their hands and fingers over it for tactile stimulation. The activity involves use of paintbrush, so encourages active grasp, HOH assist, reaching/active movements of UEs.
