Paper Towel Reveal

Keywords: visual stimulation, decision making, reach and grasp, hand strengthening

Materials: Paper towel folded in half or napkin, sharpie, washable markers, pan or container, water, spray bottle (optional)

Directions: Fold paper towel over and draw an outline of what you’d like with a sharpie marker. Open up the towel and use washable markers to color in the picture. Fold it back in half so the sharpie side is showing and have clients place it in a shallow pan with water to see the colors reveal. Optionally, place the napkin in a dish and spray it with the water bottle until the colors reveal.

This fun activity brings an element of surprise. It is brightly colored for visual stimulation. It encourages decision making by selecting what to draw and colors to use, as well as reach and grasp to color it in and fold the towel in half. If using the water bottle, it encourages hand strengthening through squeezing the trigger to spray the picture.
