Keywords: active grasp, crossing midline, bilateral hand coordination, tactile stimulation, visual stimulation
Materials: print bare tree template (attached), pink paint, Q-tips, paint tray
Directions: Have clients squeeze out some pink paint onto a tray for dipping. Using q-tips, dab the tip into the pink paint and dot it on the paper within the branches. Can dot a few paint dots around the same area to cluster the flowers.
This activity celebrates the blooming of cherry blossoms this time of year. They are pink delicate flowers on the branches of trees and admired by many. Encourage clients to maintain active grasp onto q-tips for dabbing. Encourage active reach and crossing midline, using both hands as one stabilizes the paper and the other dabs with paint. It provides tactile stimulation to fingertips once the paint has dried as well as visual stimulation.
